Desktop Engineer

Job Description
This candidate will be reporting the IT Manager of Wintel Engineering. We are looking for a Desktop Engineering candidate with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Desktop Engineer. This Desktop Engineer position will be primarily responsible for supporting Microsoft Active Directory, SMS, WSUS and the global anti-virus infrastructure. This individual will work closely with the other Desktop Engineers, desktop refresh team and account administration.

Primary Job Functions:
• Participate in R&D activities relating to the Microsoft desktop technologies
• Manage the global anti-virus infrastructure system and upgrades
• Test Microsoft Patches and authorize in WSUS
• Validate that reporting that Microsoft Patches are successfully being installed on workstations
• Train and support the Account Administration team in advance Active Directory functions
• Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure problems escalated to the Tier 3 engineering team
Must-Have Skills/Experience
• Detailed knowledge of Active Directory
• Hands on experience with SMS Administration and software pushes
• Experience with structured troubleshooting of workstations and the OSI layers
• Experience with global anti-virus infrastructures.
• Knowledge of how applications get installed and the different component types a associated with most applications (i.e., shortcuts, application files, system files, registry entries, DSN)
• Experience with working in a globally distributed team
• Experience with Desktop Virtualization technologies a plus
